From 2018 - 2023, Photographer Ryan Speers traveled the perimeter of The Salton Sea 57 times. During that time, he drove thousands of miles of road, walked over a 100 miles of coastline, and shot to document the geological and human impacts on Southern California’s Salton Sea region.

With Ghosts of the Desert Coast, Speers combines both analog and digital photography to tell the story his travels over 140 original images. Aerial, panoramic, and still-life photos offer intimate detail and soaring perspectives of this strange and beautiful and world.

The book also features an interactive component, immersing readers to special content expanding upon the project with sound, video, and more.
